The Milwaukee Vegan Meetup group had lunch today at Beans and Barley. If you’ve ever been there at brunch time on the weekend, you’ll know how insanely crowded it gets. We had to wait a bit and the group had to be split up into a few different tables, but it all worked out great and we got to eat some yummy food.
I took my bike out for the first time this semester because it was so nice outside! It was only about a 30 minute ride to get there and it was AMAZING speeding down the hills on the way back.
I got the biscuits with mushroom and seitan gravy, a side of potatoes, and a vanilla soy latte.

After lunch, I browsed the grocery/takeout/bakery section and got a slice of red velvet cake to go.

And a peppermint chocolate chip cookie, for the new segment on my cookie blog of vegan cookies that I find around Milwaukee.

I also got a few handmade soaps, a couple for gifts and one for myself. These are lavender and grenade pomegranate.

My grandma is coming to visit tomorrow, so in this cute little goldfish gift bag is a green tea soap and a few little mandarin oranges for her.

And some falafel.

The health food store in my neighborhood (pretty much across the street!) closed down a couple weekends ago, which sucks. Everything was 50% off on their last day, so I stocked up. This is purely decadent ice cream. It’s extremely melty because mini fridge freezer compartments are inadequate. And the lighting sucks in my room, so I’m not food porning in my room anymore. Did I mention I FUCKING HATE living in a dorm room? I have no kitchen, no windows, no space, and there’s plexiglass to separate the rooms. Two more months of this crappy living situation, but then I’m back in the suburbs for the summer until I get a place of my own in Milwaukee at the end of the summer.

Those biscuits and gravy look amazing and I like the sound of pomegranate soap.
Looks like fun, wish I could have made it. Will you be there at Comet Sunday?
Yay!
My spring break starts tomorrow, so unfortunately I probably won’t be in town Sunday evening. But Classic Slice next month-I’m so there!
Oh classic slice…I didn’t see that on the calendar. When is it?? That’ll be awesome!
Have a great spring break.
It’s not up on the website yet, but should be on a Saturday in April.
And thanks!
